Description
Gopherwood P Classic IV Bass Guitar Battleship Grey
The Real Standard
A P-Style Bass for the Aspiring Player — Gopherwood P Classic IV
We don’t hide behind the label of “entry-level.” From sound and tonewoods to durability. We have captured the absolute essence of what you expect from a bass guitar.
One Pickup. Two Knobs.
Emphasizing the ‘Simplicity’ and ‘Intuitiveness’ that defines a Precision Bass. We stripped away the complexity to leave only the essentials. The moment you plug in the cable, it is complete. The most authentic, solid bass sound.
GW-PB Split Pickup
Heavy Punch, The Essence of P-Style Sound
The heart of the bass features our proprietary GW-PB Split Single-Coil pickup. It faithfully reproduces the classic “thump” and thick texture of a P-Bass, while delivering the solid low-mid punch essential for Rock and Funk. Designed to minimize noise while thickening the core of the sound.
Magnet: Alnico 5 · Coil Wire: 42.5 AWG Copper · Lead Wire: Vintage Cloth · DC Resistance: 8.1kΩ
Precision 250K Potentiometers
Precision Engineering for Tone
To control the pickup signal, we use 250K Ohm components, which pair perfectly with single-coil pickups. This smooths out harsh high frequencies, completing the warm and heavy tone characteristic of the P-style.
We applied an Audio Taper (A-type) for volume for natural swells, and a Linear Taper (B-type) for tone for consistent adjustments.
Poplar Body Wood
Ideal Balance and Rich Resonance
For the body, we selected Poplar, known for its excellent tonal balance. Poplar shares similar acoustic characteristics with Alder, providing an even output across all frequency ranges without bias. Its moderate weight ensures comfortable playing even during long sessions.
Hard Maple Neck
Fast Response and Crisp Attack
The dense nature of Hard Maple transmits string vibration to the body without loss, vividly bringing out the percussive “attack” crucial for bass playing.
The back of the neck features a Satin finish for smooth playability, and the Modern ‘C’ Profile offers a comfortable grip suitable for everyone.
Rosewood Fingerboard
Depth and Warmth
We adopted a Rosewood fingerboard, a feature rarely seen on entry-level instruments. Rosewood’s natural oils provide a smooth playing feel, while its acoustic properties neutralize the brightness of the maple neck, completing a warmer, richer low-mid sustain.
Semi-Round Neck Joint
Unrestricted High-Position Access
Instead of the traditional square plate, the neck joint features a Semi-Round design with one corner smoothly contoured. This ergonomic design eliminates the bulky feel when playing above the 15th fret, allowing for comfortable melody playing in the high register.
Real Bone Nut
Small Detail, Overwhelming Resonance
The nut supporting the strings is crafted from Real Bone (Water Buffalo), not cheap plastic. Bone material possesses natural lubricating properties for stable tuning and delivers a clear, transparent sound with long sustain when playing open strings.
Battleship Gray Finish
Commanding the Battlefield
This is not just simple gray. Battleship Gray features a subtle metallic sheen that shifts with the light, creating a modern yet intense impression. It matches well with various stage outfits and stylishly expresses the player’s individuality.
Vintage Style Bridge
Reliability True to the Basics
We installed the time-tested 4-Saddle Vintage Type Bridge. Its structurally solid design ensures lossless vibration transfer to the body. Each saddle allows for individual adjustment of string height (Action) and pitch (Intonation), enabling a setup optimized for the player.
Open Gear Tuners
Classic Vibe and Precision Tuning
The Open Gear tuners, with their exposed mechanism, add a touch of vintage class. The wide gear ratio allows for fine-tuning, maintaining stable pitch even after vigorous playing.
Signature Metal Emblem
Shining Identity, The Completion of Premium
The headstock features the Gopherwood symbol as a sophisticated Metal Emblem. Unlike standard printed logos, it boasts a 3D texture and subtle luster, becoming a distinct point of class when catching the stage lights.
