J-Bass Type & Poplar Body Wood
The J-Bass body shape is widely loved for its contoured comfort, including the armrest and the way it sits close to the player’s body.
Poplar is used as the core body wood for its tonal similarity to traditional alder, while remaining a lightweight hardwood—ideal for long sessions on stage or in the studio.
Basswood is added to the top, back, and bolt-on joint area to increase joint hardness and reinforce the mid-to-low range response.
Sound & Color
The overall voicing is designed to stay balanced from lows to highs, avoiding an overly scooped or mid-heavy character. This makes the bass comfortable across a wide range of genres.
The body is finished in gloss and offered in Floral White, Jet Black, Uranus Blue, and Scarlet. Each color is paired with a matching pickguard—white, black, or tortoise—for a cohesive, eye-catching look.
Slim C-shaped Maple Neck
The well-dried hard maple neck is sturdy and reliable, supporting stable tuning and consistent playability.
The slim C-shaped profile is comfortable even for players with smaller hands, and a skunk stripe on the back of the neck further enhances structural stability.
The satin (matte) finish helps your left hand glide smoothly when shifting positions or sliding across the fretboard.
Semi-round Neck Joint
The 4-bolt neck joint provides stability and long sustain.
Because the bolt-on design allows the neck and body to be separated, it offers advantages for repair, maintenance, and fine setup work over the long term.
The semi-round neck plate features smoothly contoured edges, making it easier to play around the 18th–20th frets where high-position work is often required.
Headstock & Nut
The contoured logo headstock plate and black PPS nut enhance sustain and clarity. PPS (a durable, heat-resistant thermoplastic) transmits string energy efficiently and contributes to a clear, defined tone.
Truss rod adjustment is accessible at the headstock to correct neck relief, while a reinforced truss rod access area helps protect the wood from wear when using a metal hex wrench.
Tuning Machines
The vintage-style tuning machines feature a 21:1 gear ratio for precise, fine-tuned pitch adjustment.
The design minimizes backlash between the meshed gears, helping maintain stable tuning even with dynamic playing and frequent adjustments.
Fretboards
The 9.5″ (241 mm) radius fretboard is available in maple or purpleheart, with 20 medium-jumbo frets and a 34″ (864 mm) scale.
On Floral White models, a maple fretboard emphasizes crisp, bright high-end response—characteristic of hard maple.
On Jet Black and Uranus Blue models, a purpleheart fretboard adds a dense, focused midrange character, contributing to a full, punchy sound.
Electronics
The pickups use ceramic magnets made from a blend of ferrite, barium carbonate, and strontium—commonly referred to as ceramic pickups.
Ceramic pickups provide a strong magnetic field that maintains its strength over time, delivering powerful output and a distinctive sound with plenty of edge and definition.
By adjusting the neck volume, bridge volume, and master tone, you can dial in sounds ranging from sharp and cutting to warm and mellow.
When both single-coil pickups are set to equal volume with opposite phases, a significant portion of 60 Hz hum is cancelled, reducing noise while retaining the core character of the tone.
Vintage Type Bridge
The bass is fitted with a 4-saddle vintage-style bridge, a familiar choice for J-style basses.
Jazz bass setups often require precise control of intonation, pickup-to-string distance, and string height. The four individual saddles can be adjusted in height with a hex wrench, allowing you to fine-tune action and spacing to suit your playing style.
